Concert Etiquette Tips:

Please do not get up, walk around, or make any kind of movement while music is being played or a director is speaking.  Wait for applause before making any kind of disturbance.  If you need to use the restroom, you need to wait until there is no music, only applause.  This is same for re-entering.  If you have small children who have a difficult time sitting still, you should consider leaving them home.  All professional concerts do not allow food or beverage in the concert hall.  Opening pop cans, bottles, or candy wrappers makes noise and therefore disturbs audience members and concert performers.  Do not talk while a musical piece is being played—this includes whispering.  Once again, wait for applause or breaks between pieces.  When the National Anthem is being played, all caps are removed, your right hand is placed over your heart, and you should be facing the flag.  It is disrespectful to the flag, and all service men and women (some whom may be in the audience) to act in any other fashion. These are remarks published by the South Dakota High School Activities Association.
